Grades: 6th to 8th

Times: Monday through Friday, from school’s dismissal until 6:00 pm

Behind every enriching day at our after-school program is a passionate team of group leaders who make learning, exploring, and growing possible. From academic support to hands-on activities, our team creates a space where middle schoolers feel seen, supported, and excited to return each day.

From the moment students arrive, our team is there to assist with homework, lead creative workshops, and guide recreational activities that build confidence and connection. We believe in striking the right balance between structure and fun.

Activities Include:

• Academic Support: Grade-level homework help is built into the daily schedule, giving students the structure and guidance they need to succeed.
• Enrichment & Recreation: Enjoy activities such as Sports and Rock Wall, Swimming, Boxing with a Professional Boxer, Cooking, Dance, STEM, Creative Writing, Arts & Crafts, SEL, Playground, Yoga, Volleyball with a Specialist, and more.
• Supportive Group Environment: With caring, trained staff and group sizes typically ranging from 20 to 30 students, every child is known and supported.
• Meals: Nutritious lunch provided daily.

How To Register?

Registration for the 2026–2027 school year is now open on Discover DYCD.
Please follow the steps below on how to register for our program:

• Visit the application portal at
  
  https://discoverdycd.dycdconnect.nyc/program-public
  
• Select Youth and Afterschool Programs from the options provided on the website.
• Search for the service provider “Kings Bay YM-YWHA” in the list of available programs.
  Once you have found Kings Bay YM-YWHA, select the specific site for
  School’s Out New York City (SONYC) at Kings Bay YM-YWHA located at 3495 Nostrand Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11229.
  Proceed by clicking Add To List.
• The website will prompt you to sign in. If you do not have an account, you will be given the option to create one.
  Be sure to use the best email address that you normally check, as program updates and information will be sent to this email.
• After creating the account, you will need to add your child as a participant.
  This step is essential for registering your child for the after school program.
• Follow the website prompts to complete the program registration.
• Once your child’s application has been successfully submitted, please allow 1–2 business days for our team to review and process it.
  You will receive a confirmation email with the next steps once the application has been entered into our system.

Once completed, you can simply email it back to us for processing.
