Bus Driver (Full-Time)

From our flagship base in southern Brooklyn, where we operate a successful full-service Jewish community center, to our more recent inroads in Brownstone Brooklyn and North Brooklyn under the JCC Brooklyn umbrella, the Kings Bay Y has remained true to its 60-year-old mission.

Kings Bay YM-YWHA/JCC Brooklyn, a non-profit organization located in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, is seeking a full-time Bus Driver to join our team. This position involves providing safe and reliable transportation for seniors and people with disabilities as part of our DOT-funded transportation program. Per DOT funding guidelines, these buses are exclusively used for transporting seniors and people with disabilities. Any other rides or services require prior DOT approval.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, safety-focused, and enjoys interacting respectfully and courteously with seniors and individuals with disabilities.

Essential Functions

  • Safely transport seniors and people with disabilities to and from designated locations and program sites.
  • Operate and assist with ADA-accessible equipment to ensure all passengers can board and exit safely.
  • Provide courteous and respectful assistance to all passengers.
  • Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times.
  • Obey all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Communicate regularly with supervisors and other staff regarding schedules, routes, and passenger needs.
  • Attend mandatory safety and training sessions, including nondiscrimination and ADA compliance training.

Qualifications & Skills

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Valid CDL license with passenger endorsement required.
At least 1 year of professional bus-driving experience preferred.
Clean driving record (no at-fault accidents or citations in the last 5 years).
Experience working with seniors and/or people with disabilities preferred.
Strong communication skills and commitment to passenger safety and dignity.

Job Type: full-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday to Friday
