What is the group size at the Kings Bay Y camps?
With highly trained and talented staff, our Standard Group Sizes range between 18-20 campers on our busiest weeks. Please note that the Kings Bay Y runs a specialist-based model in which group counselors are not responsible for the activity planning or implementation of activities. This is done strictly by our trained professionals in each specialty activity period.

What activities can I expect my child to participate in?
Our Specialist activities listed on the schedule are led by professionals in their respective fields. In addition to multiple DOE-licensed Instructors joining our camp team, our program has partnered with various organizations (i.e., LightKeepers International, Leif Riddell’s Improv Playhouse, Hidden Gems Archery, etc.) to ensure an incredible experience for all.

Additionally, we are excited to announce that we have had the pleasure of bringing wonderful Israeli Shlichim to help lead specialist-based activities. We’re fortunate to have our Shlichim with us this summer to continue and add Israeli traditions to our curriculums.

Will my child participate in trips?
Yes! The camp offers diverse trips tailored to different age groups, providing a mix of recreational and educational experiences. These trips are specifically designed to align with the interests and activities of each age group.

For specific details about these trips, including schedules and destinations, you can view the sample calendars available on each of our camp pages.

Where is the camp located?
Our summer camp is located in our Sheepshead Bay location, featuring indoor activities with full access to our Indoor Junior Olympic Size swimming pool, rock-climbing walls, auditorium, 4,800 sq. ft. indoor gymnasium, outdoor playground, computer lab, video & recreational lounges, multiple classroom spaces, and more. We have also contracted outdoor field spaces, the gymnasium from KBYO, and indoor and outdoor spaces from Kingsborough Community College.

Does the camp offer transportation?
We offer bus stop transportation from various neighborhoods, including Sheepshead Bay, Marine Park, Mill-Basin, Manhattan Beach, Gerritsen Beach, Bergen Beach, Brighton Beach, Gravesend, Coney Island, Midwood (South), Bensonhurst, etc.

To view our bus stop routes, please visit our Transportation page.

Will my camper receive lunch?
All campers will receive a kosher, nut-free lunch and snack daily.

Can my child be placed in the same group as their friend?
Absolutely! There are two ways that this could be done. As you fill out the application, please add the friends’ first and last name[s] into the question for “special requests.” If you’ve already applied, just send us the first and last name[s] of the friend[s], and we’ll ensure to group the campers together.

What will my child need to bring to camp each day?
Every day, we ask the campers to bring in the following items: A refillable water bottle, sunscreen, hat, swim-suit, a towel, and wear closed-toe shoes as flip flops and shoes without closed backings will not be permitted in our activity portions. Water shoes are allowed in the pool.

Please note that you will receive communications in the event of additional items that are recommended if needed for specific activity weeks. For those families who feel a change of clothes may be necessary, please feel free to send this as well.

If my child misplaces or loses an item, what can we do?

Don’t hesitate to contact our camp office team as soon as you notice the item is missing. Our program maintains a lost and found yearly. To keep our lost-and-found to a bare minimum, please consider labeling items with special distinguishable marks (in addition to names) when trying to retrieve misplaced items.

Will communication procedures for families be updated this year?
Our administrative team is on-site throughout the school year and available to answer any questions you may have Mondays through Thursdays, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, and Fridays, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Throughout the Summer, our office hours will be adjusted to Mondays through Fridays, 7:30 am to 6:30 pm, to ensure that we are readily available to address any camp-related questions or concerns you may have, no matter how big or small!

We’d be happy to answer any questions that you may have. Don’t hesitate to contact us at camp@kingsbayy.org or call us at 718-648-7703.
